Co-President

Hello! My name is Kiana Mikami and I am a 4th year Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology Major! I am this year's 2023-2024 Co-President! During my freshman year, despite it being online, I could feel the strong bonds and close relationships that would form throughout my time inside and outside of UCLA. Everyone was so welcoming and I love the sister mentorship program! As you can see, I loved this organization so much, that I went from being an intern, to co-publicity, to now being co-president! In this club, we are more than strangers. We are a family of intelligent, capable, and motivated pre-med/pre-health women who care about seeing the success of one another in our current and future endeavors. Outside of AMWA, I am currently working in a kidney transplant clinical research lab, volunteering as a Wayfinder at the Medical Plaza, in APHC, and a KORE mentor to LBUSD high school students. This past summer I studied for the MCAT and shadowed an endocrinologist! In my free time, I enjoy watching kdramas, listening to music (BTS and Seventeen), hiking, going to concerts, and reading romance books!

Co-President

Hello! My name is Eva Danesh and I am a fourth-year psychology major and public health minor from Los Angeles. This is my fourth year involved in AMWA and third on Board! I joined AMWA at the start of my freshman year and found a group that was welcoming, encouraging, and fun. I was looking for a group that would both motivate me during my time as a pre-med and also inspire me to explore opportunities and careers in healthcare – I have been able to find that and more in AMWA! Outside of this club, I am part of a breast cancer research lab and am a staff writer for the Daily Bruin, UCLA’s newspaper, where I write mostly for the Science & Health and Features & Student Life beats. I am incredibly honored to serve as AMWA’s Co-President in my final year at UCLA, a role that allows me to give back to the AMWA community that has been so influential throughout my undergraduate journey. I eagerly look forward to creating enriching opportunities for members, alongside our amazing Board.

Soriendo con el Corazon
Co-Director

Hello, my name is Kiran! I am a fourth-year biology major and musicology minor from Chico, CA. I have been a part of AMWA since my first year at UCLA, and it has been a wonderful environment in which I have been able to bond with my fellow pre-health sisters, learn more about the healthcare field, and help serve the community through various volunteering opportunities. I have made some of my best memories in AMWA as part of the Sonriendo committee, so I am thrilled to be a co-director this year. Outside of AMWA, I am involved in studying metabolic diseases at the Lipshutz Lab, coordinating kidney health screenings for KDSAP, using the healing power of music to fight pediatric cancer with Message in a Melody, volunteering at the hospital through the Care Extenders and Child Life programs, and working with the UCLA women's golf team. In my free time, I enjoy exploring nature, playing golf, and creating music.

Soriendo con el Corazon
Co-Director

Hi! My name is Sophie Ong and I am one of the Sonriendo con el Corazon Co-Directors for the 2023-24 school year. I am a 3rd year majoring in Microbiology, Immunology, & Molecular Genetics, and I have been part of AMWA since fall quarter of my freshman year. I came to college searching for a warm, inclusive space for like-minded individuals -- something that, as a woman in STEM, I think is so important when it comes to feeling supported through my professional and academic journey. Joining AMWA was one of the most fulfilling and rewarding decisions I have made during my time at UCLA, and I have been able to gain incredible insight into my trajectory as a future healthcare provider through AMWA's diverse opportunities, workshops, panels, and more! Outside of AMWA, I serve as a project director for SCOPE Patient Health Advocates, as well as conduct research in a cancer immunotherapy lab. In my free time, I love hunting for new cafes and study spots, spending too much money at Trader Joe's and too much time on BeReal, and playing guitar :)

Publicity Director

Hello! My name is Sabrina Huang and I am the Publicity Director for AMWA this year! I am a third year Human Biology and Society major. I joined AMWA in my second year and found the members to be so welcoming and supportive! I was initially looking for pre-med clubs that provided both resources and community to its members and AMWA definitely checked those boxes. I am extremely excited to work with this board to bring the same sense of community that I received when I joined. Aside from AMWA, I am also the Social Media Coordinator for Pre-Med Community where I make flyers and promote upcoming club events. I am also a part of the Media Productions team for Campus Events Commission where I photograph and document campus events such as Bruin Bash and Ultrabloom. Additionally, I am also a COPE Health Scholar at Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills where I assist with patient care. In my free time I like to take photos, spend time with friends and family, run and hurdle, and play volleyball!

Co-Professional Development Director

My name is Audrey Wong and I am the Professional Development Co-Chair. I joined AMWA because I was looking for a pre-med club that not only aligns with my interests, but also provides a supportive community to aid me in my pre-med journey. I am so grateful that I found just what I was looking for, and more! I love how compassionate, convivial, and intelligent every single member of AMWA is, and this connection that I felt with fellow women who share my interests is what drew me to this organization in the first place. Hi everyone! My name is Sri Mannava and I am the Mentorship Director for AMWA. I am a fourth year majoring in Psychobiology and minoring in Entrepreneurship. I joined AMWA in my sophomore year to find a nurturing community of ambitious women! My favorite experience in AMWA was bonding with my big sister who served as a big support system for me professionally and personally. Outside of AMWA, I am involved in SCOPE, Bruin Women in Business, Mann Mukti, and the Haselton Lab.
